Festive Fun in Solihull!

We understand that Christmas can be an expensive and overwhelming time. This is why we like to compile a blog each year on autism friendly and free events that are being held in the area. Here are just a few things that may help you and your family this festive season:

*Supermarket Quiet Hours:

Tesco: Quiet hour from 9-10am on Wednesdays and Saturdays with reduced lighting in the larger stores.

ASDA: Quiet hour from 2-3pm with reduced noise levels through no music and reduced tannoy announcements.

Morrisons: Have a range of different quiet hours, such as 2-3pm from Monday to Thursday, 9-10am on Saturdays and the last hour of trade on Sundays. They will turn down all electrical appliances, including checkout beeps, and making other customers aware of the quiet hour with posters on the exterior of the store.

*Local Shopping Centre Quiet Hours:

Solihull Touchwood has quiet hours on Saturdays from 9-10am. Lights will be dimmed, music turned off and announcements are kept to a minimum. There is also a fully accessible wheelchair service which allows shoppers to have a more accessible experience.

Every Saturday from 10-11am, Resorts World Birmingham offers a quiet hour where the lights are dimmed, music is turned off and announcements are kept to a minimum.

The Fort in Birmingham has a quiet hour on the first Sunday of every month from 10-11am, and on the third Sunday of the month from 3-4pm.

*Free to attend activities in Solihull:

Sunday 22nd December: Carols in the Courtyard at Castle Bromwich Gardens.

Saturday 14th December: Solihull village will be turned into a Christmas wonderland, with a Solihull festive fun day.

Free ‘Festive Family Fun’ at Resorts World, with live entertainment and plenty of fun activities for the kids throughout December.

Solihull atrium free activities:

15th/22nd December: Christmas crafting workshop

14th December: Gliding nutcracker soldier display with photo opportunities

21st and 22nd December: Joogleberrys walking and talking tree performance

So, what are we doing to make Solihull a more inclusive place?

We are looking forward to our two day Christmas HAF provision in December. We will be taking our participants over to a pantomime, grotto and a visit to Santa on Saturday 21st December. Our second event will be on Saturday 4th January where we will be hosting a new year disco with plenty of fun, games and partying!

Unfortunately, we are now all booked up on our camp. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

*All of these hours may be subject to change, so please make sure you are checking beforehand. We have no control over these hours, and this blog is simply providing a range of suggestions over the festive period.
